WALTER DUNDERVILL: ARENA

July 30 - August 1, 2015

“[Dundervill] brings a brilliant and bizarre sensibility to everything he touches, as a set designer, costumer, performer, choreographer, and director. “ – Martha Sherman, danceviewtimes

PLEASE ALSO NOTE: This is a performance installation, without a traditional seating area, and although there will be some seats available, purchasing a ticket does not necessarily guarantee a seat, just entry.

Bessie-winner Walter Dundervill brings ARENA back to JACK, an installation performance that created a buzz when it premiered at JACK in July 2014. Over the course of each three-hour installation, Dundervill and his dancers utilize costumes, fabrics, and various everyday materials to build a landscape continually in flux.

In this installation dance piece by multiple Bessie-winner Walter Dundervill, the choreographer himself facilitates a hypnotic three-hour ritual in which he ushers his dancers through ever-changing costumes, mise-en-scène and movement sequences, covering their bodies and the space in foil, fabric and plexiglass within a droning sonic landscape. The audience may enter at any time during the performance and stay as long as they like.
