Help Keep JACK Thriving – Support Radical Art

At JACK, we know that stories shape the world. Through transformative performances, community forums, and mutual aid, we are dedicated to building a more just and vibrant society. As both an arts and community space, JACK connects neighbors and fosters dialogue on issues that matter.

2024: A Year of Vision and Action

This year, JACK artists used their imagination to:

  • Bring us messages from a liberatory future

  • Experiment with daring new genres and ideas.

  • Create installations that foster restoration and healing through ritual.

  • Lead workshops on cultural resistance in movements.

  • Develop plays exploring intersecting movements for liberation.

  • Illuminate the realities of the dehumanizing U.S. immigration system.

  • Host a groundbreaking festival on censorship showcasing censored work by BIPOC, queer, and trans artists through teach-ins, performance and new media.

Collaborating with Our Community

We partnered with local organizations to expand our impact:

  • Brooklyn Public Library created lobby installations on voting, banned books, and combating disinformation and Brooklyn Book Bodega distributed free books.

  • Actively engaged with local government and community members through civic engagement forums and presentations as well as hosted meetings for multiple neighboring block associations

  • New York Health and Hospitals distributed free Covid Tests and Liberation Healing Clinic provided sliding scale body work.

  • Oye Group hosted two festivals highlighting bold new emerging artists.

  • JACK endorsed and highlighted direct actions from Equality for Flatbush and Theater Workers for Ceasefire.

  • Ms. K’s Dance Academy threw down on some double dutch at our summer celebration!

  • We’ll finish the year partnering with STooPs Bed-Stuy to host a holiday party for artists!

Why Your Support Matters

At JACK, we empower artists to tell their stories and push boundaries, even when it comes with risks. Your support allows us to provide a nurturing space for artistic exploration, innovation, and community engagement. Our commitment to art and social justice is unwavering, but we need your help to keep our space thriving.

“If there is one big privilege I have had as a resident artist I have felt completely supported in experimenting and resting when needed. There was no need to create anything for an audience yet, I could just throw things at the wall. ” - Carolina Đỗ, participant of our Artist Residency and JACK LAB series

Join us in standing for radical art and justice. We trust our artists. We trust our community. With your support, JACK will continue to be a place where bold ideas come to life.

Help us reach our $20,000 goal to keep JACK open and thriving.

ARTIST SUPPORT

JACK support goes towards BIPOC artists and those committed to our collective liberation. The work at JACK is always new and allows the artist to build their audience. Many artists have accomplished first milestones of success at JACK: their first evening-length work, their first review in The New York Times, or their first opportunity to have their work seen by presenters. Your donation offers these artists more substantial financial and creative resources when producing their work with JACK.

ARTS & ACTIVISM

Our goal in founding JACK was to create an arts organization with racial equity at its core. This focus has resulted in the curation of series such as Forward Ferguson and Reparations365. Next season we'll be expanding our Reparations365 programming with a conversation series that aims to build solidarity between Black Americans’ movements for reparations and Indigenous peoples’ movements for the return of stolen land in partnership with several other arts and community organizations. Your donation makes it possible to offer these programs for free!
