Oren Barnoy

In this new piece, titled with a symbol, Barnoy creates his own version of a daily prayer through movement. A determined pulse feeds continuous action – vigorous and ecstatic – with the dancers engaged in an unrelenting ritual that pushes the room ever closer towards transcendence. Curated by Stacy Grossfield as part of her Images // Landscapes series at JACK.

BIOS

Oren Barnoy has shown dance choreography at PS1 MoMa, Potsdam Film School, Dixon Place, Danspace Projects, The Kitchen, La MaMa Experimental Theater and New Dance Alliance – Performance Mix. Barnoy was a Studio Series artist in residence at New York Live Arts in 2011 and in 2012/2013 an Artist in residence at The Tribeca Performing Arts Center. His installation work has been presented by Art Basel, Miami. Barnoy released an album on Koch Records and was a featured Dj at the Ultra Music Festival in 2007 and 2008. Barnoy has had the honor to dance for luciana achugar, DD Dorvillier, Sarah Michelson, Heather Kravas, Emmanuelle Huynh, Ben Van Buren, and the Daniel Gwirtzman Dance Company.

Paul Hamilton started his dance training in Jamaica at the Jamaica School of dance. Upon arriving in the United States, he continued his training at SUNY Purchase, where he studied with Kevin Wynn and Neil Greenberg. Paul also studied at the Alvin Ailey School of Dance, the Martha Graham School and Dance Theatre of Harlem. He has performed with Elizabeth Streb, The Martha Graham Dance Ensemble, The Barnspace Dance Company, Mauri Cramer Dancers, Ballet Arts Theatre, Ralph Lemon, Deborah Hay, apprenticed with Lines Contemporary Ballet with Alonso King, and is also a member of Reggie Wilson Fist and Performance Group and Keely Garfield Dance.

Candace Tabbs is a Dancer, Choreographer and Fitness Professional. Tabbs earned her B.A. in Neuroscience and Behavior and minored in Dance at Barnard College. She has performed at venues such as BAM Opera House, Lincoln Center, and New York Live Arts with companies such as Jamie J & Co., Poetic Theatre Productions, Movement of the People Dance Company, abunDANCE Dance Company and Shift Dance Collective. Candace teaches and performs with intergenerational dance company, Dances for a Variable Population, and explores the conversation between Modern, Hip Hop and dances of the African Diaspora in her own work. Candace is also a certified Group Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer, bringing mental and physical wellbeing to the forefront of people’s lives. www.candacetabbs.com

Molly Lieber dances in works of luciana achugar, Wally Cardona and Jennifer Lacey, Keely Garfield, Neil Greenberg, Melinda Ring, Donna Uchizono, and others. She choreographs works in collaboration with Eleanor Smith. She received a 2016 New York Dance and Performance “Bessie” Award for her body of work and was featured in Dance Magazine’s March 2016 issue on New York’s freelance dancers. She teaches at Movement Research.
